SUMMARY:Seasons of Verse Poetry Series
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Joseph Voth\, author of “Living with Noise”\, Michelle Patton\, who won the Ernesto Trejo Award for poetry and was a nominee for a Pushcart Prize and Kirk Stone.\nSeasons of Verse is a curated poetry reading series held inside the peaceful landscape of Shinzen Garden\, featuring four unique events that align with the rhythm of the seasons. The series will showcase the vibrant voices of Fresno-area poets and offer one open mic event to welcome emerging and community writers. \nIncluded with Garden Admission \nMeet Our Poets: \n Joseph Voth is the author of Living with Noise\, published by NorthShore Press. His poems have appeared in Virginia Quarterly Review\, Connecticut Review\, South Carolina Review\, ZYZZYVA\, and numerous other journals. He teaches writing courses at Fresno City College. \n Michelle Patton received an MFA in Creative Writing from California State University\, Fresno. She won the Ernesto Trejo Award for poetry in 2003 and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Her poems have been published in The Atlanta Review\, Southern Poetry Review\, Calyx\, Zyzzyva\, Prairie Schooner\, Cutbank\, and others. She teaches English at Fresno City College. \n  \n  \n  \n Kirk Stone grew up on the California coast near strawberry fields and the ocean. He received an MFA in Creative Writing from Fresno State where he facilitated small writing groups for many years. He recently retired to Visalia to live among citrus and grapevines.

Her first graphic novel\, Displacement\, was published by First Second in 2020. It earned an APALA Literature Award honor and was an Eisner Award nominee. Kiku’s work explores themes of identity\, queer romance\, soft sci-fi and anti-capitalist futures. \nAbout the Moderator\nNina Nobuko Wallace is the Media & Outreach Manager at Densho. Densho is an online archive and public history organization. It preserves and shares the stories of Japanese Americans who were incarcerated during World War II.
