Enjoy the benefits of color and texture in your drought-tolerant and waterwise garden throughout the year. Master Gardener, Charlie Hindes will present beneficial information on developing and maintaining a drought – tolerant and waterwise garden.

Join us for an enriching and rejuvenating afternoon at Strides for Wellness inside Shinzen Garden, presented by the California Health Sciences University Class of 2024. Here you can embrace holistic well-being through a series of mindful activities designed to nourish your mind, body, and soul.

CLOSED: Mon – Tue

Garden Admission*

Under 4yrs: Free

4-14yrs: $1/ea.

15yrs-Adult: $5/ea.

Seniors 62+: $1/ea.

Students: $1/ea.

Family: $7 (2-5 people)

*Woodward Park entry/car/parking: $5; $3 for Seniors; $7 during National Holidays. Credit Cards are accepted.

Please note that Woodward Park has implemented a new parking fee payment system. Parking KIOSKs are located throughout the Woodward Park and Shinzen Garden parking lot.

* The bonsai collection is only open when a docent is present. Check the bonsai exhibit hours posted at the main entry gatehouse to the Shinzen Garden.

Unfortunately, the bonsai collection will be closed when it’s raining, the air quality is considered unhealthy for all groups, when temperatures exceed 95 degrees, and/or docents are unavailable.

In this 2-hour workshop, instructor Steve DaSilva will provide instruction and training on how to properly prune a Japanese Black Pine. Our expert will show you all the whys and how’s about candling and needling to maintain aesthetics and keep your pines a manageable size.

A neo-soul and Jazz aficionado, Ike Tecson spent the early part of his post-graduate years at the University of Hawaii touring Japan and performing at popular music venues such as the Sapporo Jazz Festival, Birdland, and the Yokohama Music Festival. He’s opened for Bon Jovi and the Black Eyed Peas while backing up rock guitarist Mike Corrado.
