iscover the beauty, tradition, and cultural significance of matcha in this immersive workshop at Shinzen Garden. Rooted in centuries of Japanese tea culture, matcha represents more than just a beverage—it is a symbol of mindfulness, harmony, respect, and tranquility.

In this hands-on experience, participants will explore the history and cultural role of matcha in Japan while tasting several distinct varieties, each with its own unique flavor profile. You’ll learn how matcha is traditionally prepared and gain insight into the tools used in Japanese tea practice, including the chasen (bamboo whisk) and chawan (tea bowl).

Capture the beauty of Shinzen Garden while learning the fundamentals of photography in this engaging Photography 101 workshop. Designed for beginners, this hands-on class will introduce you to essential camera settings, composition techniques, and how to use light to create stunning images. Whether you’re using a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or simply want to better understand your device, you’ll gain practical skills you can start using right away.

Set against the serene backdrop of the garden, you’ll have the opportunity to practice what you learn in real time—framing landscapes, capturing details, and telling visual stories through your lens. With personalized guidance and a small class size, you’ll leave feeling more confident and inspired to take your photography to the next level.

OPEN: Wed – Sun: 10am – 7pm*
CLOSED: Monday and Tuesday

Under 4yrs: Free

4-14yrs: $1/ea.

15yrs-Adult: $5/ea.

Seniors 62+: $1/ea.

Students: $1/ea.

Family: $7 (2-5 people)

*Woodward Park Parking: $5; $3 for Seniors; $7 during National Holidays. Credit Cards are accepted.

Clark Bonsai Museum Hours

Open Wed-Sun, 10am-4pm*

*When temperatures exceed 95 degrees, the bonsai collection hours are 10am -1pm Wednesday – Sunday. Unfortunately, the bonsai museum will be closed  during heavy rains or when air quality is deemed unhealthy for all groups. 

 

Please Clark Bonsai Museum to confirm the museum hours or request an appointment to tour the museum outside of the posted hours.
